Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ is proud to announce a return to the Kansas City Barbeque Society Cook-Off schedule, May 19th & 20th 2006. The 1st Annual Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ Cook-Off and 2006 World Brisket Open promises to be an exciting weekend for all. We will be crowning two Grand Champions on this weekend. Not only will we crown the Grand Champion of the Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ Cook-Off but also the 2006 World Brisket Champion. The 1st Annual Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ Cook-Off will be a normal four category KCBS cook-off. The World Brisket Open is a separate contest to determine the 2006 World Brisket Champion. The World Brisket Open requires a separate entry fee and has rules that vary from normal KCBS rules. Our goal with the World Brisket Open is to create a unique, “purist” event to determine “The Best Brisket in the World”. We have combined rules from Kansas City and Texas. Garnish, decoration and sauce may not be added to the turn-in container. Judges will be scoring just the brisket in its purest form with no garnish, decoration or sauce. The event is open to all competitors who enter the K.C.B.S. cook-off. In the years to come, we will add the World Brisket Invitational. All cook-off proceeds will benefit local charities. Our primary charity is an education fund set up in memory of Steve Currie. Steve was an original member of Slaughterhouse Five and a long time friend and employee of Oklahoma Joe’s. Rotary Club volunteers will be assisting the cook-off and Oklahoma Joe’s will make donations to their local clubs. The event will be held at Kansas Speedway. Unlike past years, the event will be held on the outside of the facility instead of the infield. Admission will be free the entire weekend. There will be a Boat & RV show going on in conjunction with the cook-off. Oklahoma Joe’s will be vending BBQ on the grounds, with the proceeds benefiting charity. Be a part of history and enter the 2006 World Brisket Championship and Oklahoma Joe’s Cook-off today. Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ Committee,
